Recognizing the need for a dedicated space fostering meaningful mentorship, shared expertise, and connection for women in this field, we’re on a mission to make foreign affairs more accessible by building a transatlantic intergenerational community for women with diverse backgrounds to connect, support, and uplift each other. With this goal in mind we created the Women in Foreign Affairs Network. We offer recurring mentorship and networking events with a thematic focus on decision-making and leadership, as well as blind spots in the field. Our mission is to make foreign affairs and politics more accessible and inclusive by building an intergenerational community of women leaders in foreign affairs, providing an opportunity for women of all ages to gain insights into different professions and career paths in the field, and fostering a safe space for women to support each other in their career decisions.
For us, finding people who have already dealt with the challenges we are facing (or anticipating) – as well as connecting with peers in similar situations – changed the ballgame of working in international politics. Now, we are trying to share this network effect with as many other women as possible. Our mentorship groups and community events are the cornerstone of our approach, but we hope to expand our programs as our community grows. Currently, we welcome between 20 and 40 new women to the network every quarter! You can find more information on how to become a mentor or mentee here.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our team of volunteers.
